‘The Gallery’ in the Old Bank House, Castle Cary, are celebrating the expansion of their business to include an upstairs restaurant and beautiful sunny courtyard with a wood-fired pizza oven. The Gallery has been running the last few years as a successful Live Music Venue with Fine Art. It will be open from 17 September for coffee, cakes and pastries, light lunches and dinner. The stunning street-level gallery, decorated by the renowned interior designer David Mlinaric, will also have seating. The live music in the bar will continue as normal every weekend from 9.30pm after last food orders and the bar will continue to be open for drinks. They are collaborating with top baker Lievito in Lovington and their chef, Stéphan Richet, is the owner of a fantastic Italian delicatessen with direct links with the best producers in Italy.
Sally Burgess, co-owner of The Gallery, says: ‘It’s really exciting to see this area grow its reputation for fine art combined with food and music, with Hauser & Wirth in Bruton and many other galleries nearby. We are looking to build on that demand for top-quality art, live music and good artisan food which all go hand in hand.’
To celebrate the launch, The Gallery will be taking part in Somerset Art Weeks (Venue 13). Opening with a preview party on Friday 16 September, there will be an exhibition and Open Studio by graphite artist Paul Newman as well as The Gallery hosting artist talks and live music over all three weekends of the event.
