We are delighted to be partnering Bristol Old Vic Theatre again this August, following the huge success of last year’s youth summer school. The fortnight-long workshop series will provide an incredible opportunity for young people in and around Bruton to work with a theatre director and musical director from the Bristol Old Vic Theatre.
Directed by Miranda Cromwell, with music by Alistair Debling and design by Jack Offord, this year’s course will use the setting of Durslade Farm as inspiration for the participants to create a brand-new piece of theatre in response to the Jenny Holzer exhibition ‘Softer Targets’. Working with the professional creative team, the young people will explore the skills needed to create an original script, music and narrative and perform a new play of their own making at the end of the course, culminating in a public performance on Thursday 27 August. Everyone is warmly invited.
The workshop will run on weekdays from 10 am to 5 pm daily, 17 to 27 August, and is available to children aged 10 to 19 years. Tickets are £120 for the full course.
We ask that all children are delivered to the gallery and picked up by a responsible adult; please let us know if you wish your child to travel to and from the gallery on their own. Children should bring a packed lunch, snacks and drinks as necessary.
