Somerset Wildlife Trust: The Big Count
June 23 @ 12:00 am
An event every day that begins at 12:00 am, repeating until June 26, 2022
What is it?
Take part in the Big Count by spotting and counting as many of our 12 species within a one hour period. When you are out on a walk, exploring your local green space, on school grounds, at work, on a nature reserve – anywhere – we need you to keep your eyes peeled for our special twelve! Take a snap and log it on the iNaturalist platform.
When is it?
The Big Count launches on the Big Wild Weekend on the 17th – 19th June which is part of our annual 30 Days Wild initiative. And because we want as many people to take part as possible from individuals, families, schools, businesses and more, we are going to keep it going until the 26th June.
How do I log my sightings?
We’ve decided to use a platform called iNaturalist to record data for all the counts in the Great Somerset Wildlife Count. It is one of the world’s most popular nature apps and brings together a huge community of people recording and sharing their observations, helping scientists better understand and protect nature.
