Horticultural Society visit to the American Museum, Claverton
September 20 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the hilltop site of the Museum’s home, Claverton Manor, takes full advantage of the spectacular views over the Limpley Stoke Valley and River Avon, particularly impressive with the autumn colours. Remnants of the old Italianate style manorial pleasure gardens and parkland, dating from the 1820s, can be seen within the grounds, including period features such as the grotto, the balustrade and curtain walling, as well as ornamental stone work. The New American Garden planting follows the free-form style made famous by the firm’s founders, Wolfgang Oehme and James van Sweden.
Cost: £6 members, £8 non-members. Cafe open for refreshments.
Directions: Follow the A361 from Frome and then take the A36 towards Bath. At the traffic lights at the bottom of Brassknocker Hill, turn left up the hill. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Claverton Down Rd, turn right onto Norwood Ave, turn right onto The Avenue, continue onto Claverton Hill and then turn left into the museum.
