BrueCREW: sustainable Eel Group at the Radic Pavilion, Hauser and Wirth.
June 15 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
In partnership with the Forest of Selwood Charity.
Come along to the Radic Pavilion at Hauser and Wirth.
On the 29th April, glass eels were released at appropriate stocking density into the River Brue, a 31 mile long river that ends in the Bristol Channel. This restocking is just one part of a larger eel rewilding programme across the UK – where some 2 million eels have been released so far.
The assisted migration allows eels to complete their journey inland – that would otherwise be blocked by man-made barriers downstream. The eels released will go on to fulfil their essential ecosystem roles in the surrounding area – before travelling back to the Sargasso Sea in a decade or so.
