The inauguration of the direct train service between Bruton and London Waterloo took place on Monday 14 December. The first train leaves London at 12.50, arriving at Bruton Station at 15.18.
The first train from Bruton leaves at 17.10, arriving at Waterloo at 19.50. This is fine if you are staying in London overnight. The Friends of Bruton Station are constantly pressing for a more realistic service – it would be much more useful to be able to go to London for the day, for instance. If you wanted to come for a day trip from London, you would be able to stay for only two hours. So at the moment the timings are unsatisfactory. We hope to keep everyone informed as and when things change.
