Cheesie wins all round

Cheesie wins all round

Bruton’s Godminster showed just how broad the appeal is of the Vintage Organic Cheddar, with a trio of top awards at the recent Global Cheese Awards 2018.

The first Gold award was for Export Cheese, testament to the growing success of Godminster overseas, in Europe but also in Africa and Asia too. The Children’s Choice Gold was selected by a group of five under 10s who showed that age is no barrier to a love of good cheese, and finally, on Saturday afternoon, Godminster was picked as the Celebrity Chef’s Choice by Dean Edwards, famous for his appearances on Lorraine and This Morning.

Deborah Bradfield, Commercial Director, says of the wins, “We’re hugely proud of our successes this weekend; the gold awards show that Godminster is a brand with appeal to an audience that is growing all the time. Exporting is a large part of our business now and our cheese can be purchased in 26 countries already with more planned.

“Our customers have always told us that their children love our cheddar so to have it picked out of a group of finalists is fantastic, and of course being recognised by a celebrity chef is wonderful. Godminster Vintage Organic Cheddar is delicious on its own but it’s also a versatile ingredient that adds a bit of ‘wow’ to lots of dishes, and with the Chef’s award, you don’t have to take just our word for it!”

The success for Godminster keeps coming as on Friday the Vintage Organic Cheddar has been announced as a finalist in the 2018 Great British Cheese Awards. It is one of five artisan cheeses selected in the Best Hard Cheese category, and is also nominated in the People’s Choice category. The awards ceremony is to be held at Somerset House in London on 17th October.
