Wednesday Morning Writing Workshops in Bruton with local author Susan Elderkin.
Wednesdays, 9.30-1pm, starting 26th April 2017.
It’s one thing deciding you want to write, and quite another getting started. And even if the words come easily, how do you begin to mould them into a novel-like shape…?
These weekly workshops are for anyone who wants some support while getting their novel – or memoir, or as-yet-undefined writing project – off the ground. Each week will focus on a different aspect of the writing craft, and over the 10-week term we’ll cover the essentials: from how to create characters sufficiently flawed to engender a story – but not too flawed to love; to how maintain a strong and hard-working point of view, and how to make the most of whatever special ways of seeing the world exist in you… You’ll write as you go, creating your novel/memoir almost without noticing. By the end, you’ll have a project in full swing, a new daily writing habit – and find yourself part of an inspiring new group of writer friends.
The workshops are £35 each, or £250 for the course of ten. They’re held at The Annex behind 74 High Street, Lower Backway, Bruton BA10 0AJ (email Susan for full directions). Arrive from 9am to give yourself time to have a cup of tea/coffee and to meet the other writers. Workshops kick off at 9.30am sharp. We’ll have a short break midway, and finish at 1pm. Spaces will be limited to 10 writers per workshop. For a week-by-week description of what we’ll be covering, and to reserve a place on all or some of the workshops, email Susan on: firstname.lastname@example.org
